Waterproofing

No matter how well-designed and well-built your commercial building may be, without the proper waterproofing you may incur extensive, costly repairs. Not only does excess water cause organic materials to deteriorate, it also serves as a breeding ground for toxic mold. Toxic mold can result in serious health problems for those who occupy the building.

To ensure that your building is as safe as possible, the following components should be waterproofed:

Water Tanks and Fire Suppression Tanks – These tanks are made typically made from concrete which can become cracked if they have not been properly protected against the water they are designed to contain. We can properly prepare concrete tanks while also waterproofing the joints that are the most vulnerable to developing water damage.

Decks, Driveways, and Walkways – Outdoor decks, driveways, and walkways should always receive the appropriate type of waterproofing. This is necessary because these areas are under constant exposure to the weather. Walkways or stairs that have deteriorated due to water damage, can lead to serious injury. The installation of a top layer of waterproofing material can help prevent slipping and structural damage.

Planter Boxes – Plants require water to continue looking beautiful, but if the planter boxes aren’t properly treated, water can cause damage to your building. Bay Quality Roofing can line the inside of your planter boxes with roofing cement and treat the exterior of the boxes with a clear acrylic sealant. These steps will ensure that your building remains damage free while also ensuring that your planter boxes will continue to look great for years to come.

Walls – If non-waterproofed walls or timber frames are exposed to water, mold can begin to develop in the sheetrock under the paint. Left untreated, this mold can continue to grow for years, leading to health and building problems. We use state-of-the-art waterproof membranes and sheeting to prevent water from entering and weakening your walls.

Below Grade – Your foundation or other below grade structures must be waterproofed to prevent cracks and other structural failures. We can apply protective membranes which will help keep your building sound from the bottom up.
